Supported Audio and Image Types

Windows Media Author uses the actual file to determine file type, rather than the file extension.

Audio files can be any type of .wav file that uses an installed audio compression manager (ACM) codec. When the user open Windows Media Author, it will check for any installed codecs on user's computer and adds them to the list of available formats.

Convert all images to either loss tolerant JPEG or JPEG before converting them to ASF format. The source images can be any of the following items:

· .bmp or .dib (compressed or uncompressed)
· .gif (must be converted to any of the available conversion formats)
· .jpg
· .rle

When user inserts the media files to the Gantt Bar:

.wav files will be converted (reduce the size for the web) automatically, so no need to worry about the size.

For .jpg files, the user must convert them by themselves.

The user can use mouse right click popup menu then select "convert", or edit it from the image list.

In the convertion dialog box, the user should first resize it if necessary, then change the image quality.
