Dexter Hypertext Model (Cont.)
Run-time Layer
- describes mechanisms supporting
the user’s interaction with the hypertext
Storage Layer
- is the main focus of the Dexter
Hypertext Model
- models the basic node - link structure
which is composed of data containing components that are arranged in a hierarchy
With-in Component Layer
- is concerned with the contents that
exist within the components themselves, and is not specifically defined in the
model to allow a wide variety of media (text, audio, video, etc.) to be included.
Presentation Specifications
- is a mechanism that enables the
storage of information concerning how to display a component to the user
- allow the component to be displayed
to the user based not only on the hypertext tool (e.g. the browser) that is
displaying the hypertext, but also as an attribute of the component itself
- also allows a component to be
displayed a certain way depending on the link used to get there
Anchoring
- is a mechanism that enables links
to locations within a component itself, not just between components
- If a complete document is a component,
then anchoring allows links to certain characters in that document (e.g. sub-sections
of the document.
