Use these notes by John Ousterhout to write the reviews. All reviews must address the following points:
- Summary: What is the problem the paper addresses? What is the main motivation and key contributions of the work?
- Strengths and Weakness (at least two sentences each): What is the novel contribution? Any technical flaws? Is it confusing to read? If so, why?
- Discussion Points: (at least two points): What is the significance of the work? Possible future extensions? What are the assumptions in the work and why is it relevant? etc.
2. Hints on preparing a presentation
Giving good presentations takes a lot of thought and practice, and so students must start preparing early for your presentation. Students must prepare a 35 to 40 minutes presentation. Student must walk through the presentation with the instructor no later than Monday/Wednesday preceding the presentation. All presentations must address the following points:
- Outline of your presentation.
- Motivation of the work.
- A clear problem statement/definition
- Critical analysis of the contribution of the paper. Provide necessary intuition/background/related work/example to understand the approach and contribution.
