The Midterm for this class will be held on Wednesday, October 10th
Exams
will require that you Think about the problem anddevise a solution that
has not been discussed in class. There are many solutions and you
have to come up with your own, justify it, make assumptions clear,
etc. The best way to study for the exam is to create a study
group and pose (and solve) problems that exist or that don't exist in
the world. For example, how do you do a load balancing algorithm
(for what type of application, can it be generic)? what
components do you need (what type of servers or processes)? what
information do you need, who provides it, how often? what
policies do you need (at an abstraction level)? what mechanisms
do you need?
There will be two midterm exams.
