The Final Word

The main things to note:
- COM+ is marked down in state management since it has no
container-managed persistence
- EJB is marked down for deployment because of the current
platform inconsistencies. This mark should rise as EJB 2.0 compliant platforms
appear
- EJB is marked down for robustness since it is not
explicitly covered or mandated in the specification. However, some individual
EJB products would rate higher than COM+ for robustness
- It is difficult to give an overall rating for consistency
of implementation for EJB since it varies form vendor to vendor
- Aspects of CORBA Components such as ease of development and
robustness are difficult to judge until products ship and have therefore been
marked down
- No presumptions have been made about the platform support
or consistency of implementation of CORBA components
