UPDATE: Assignment 2 (Office hours) is up on the class webpage. It is due on October 2nd, with a no penalty extension until October 6th.

For Assignment 2, telnet into


  unixs.cis.pitt.edu

and from your home directory type:

~jrmst106/public/1550-P2.pl

This will create in your cs1550 directory a directory structure for nachos. You may now modify files in the threads directory and can build a nachos executable in that directory by typing gmake.

UPDATE: Survey Assignment is due on Monday, September 15. It is electronic submission. Please type up your answers, and put them in your 1550-submit directory. Email should be sent out about this tonight.

For Assignment 1, telnet into


  unixs.cis.pitt.edu

and from your home directory type:

~jrmst106/public/1550-P1.sh

this will create a cs1550 directory, cd into it and then cd into the code directory for the files you need to complete the survey. You cannot change any files or compile nachos for this assignment.

NOTE: We are using nachos version 3.4. If you have been using version 4.0, please check your answers again to see what has changed. Let me know if there is any complications to this

Announcements:

(9/22/03): The third project (Assignment 2) is on the webpage, follow the above instructions to set up nachos properly. The class website is going to be updated today to make it more accurate and consistent, and I recommend checking it and this page regularly.
(9/17/03): The third project will not be the Laundromat, but will involve synchronization. I am currently writing the script to set up nachos for this stage.
(9/3/03): This is the last joint recitation (at least for a while), start going to your scheduled recitation next week. We went over C++ for Java programmers.
(8/27/03): Today we went over various Unix commands and answered questions about the first assignment.
(8/25/03): Since Monday is a University holiday, attendance to both recitations this week, and the Wednesday recitation next week (9/3/03) is recommended
