Propose on Toward Next-Generation Global Disaster Alert Coordination System

Global Disaster Alert Coordination System (GDACS) is a cooperation framework of the United Nations, the European Commission and disaster managers around the world, aiming to exchange disaster information and coordinate relief in the first phase of a disaster’s aftermath. As for a subject for analyzing information architecture, GDACS is quite an interesting system to analyze because it has various actors, ranging from earthquake observatories to disaster managers in the field, as well as its variety of data and information. GDACS is comprised of two sub-systems; the automated disaster alert system and the disaster relief coordination system, named V-OSOCC(Virtual On-Site Operations & Coordination Center). For this term project, we reviewed and re-implemented V-OSOCC.
