(1) With augmented reality, different inhabitants of a city might see different,
spatially tailored annotations superimposed on it (pp.41)
(2) The ancient Romans believed that each particular place had its characteristic
spirit - its genius loci - that might manifest itself,
if you watched carefully for it, as a snake. They had the right idea, but
not the neceessary technology (pp.50).
(3) Whereas the industrial revolution forced the separation of home and workplace,
the digital revolution is bringing them back together (pp. 72).
(4) These wired homes of the twenty-first centruy will require more than
additional space to accommodate their wider ranges of functions. The internal
