The Matrix
Matrix's predecessor is the 1982-vintage Tron,
which gave credits to over 200 Taiwan graphic designers!
Is the cultural understanding deepened?
The answer is both "yes" and "no"
In "The Matrix", Keenu Reeves is a hybrid in more than one sense.
The cultural understanding may be shallow from the traditionalists' point of view.
In a TV Interview, the actors/actresses of the second episode said they were deeply impressed by the philosophy and wisdom, such as the saying "You only know a man when you fight him". This is actually a direct translation of the Chinese proverb: ¤£¥´¤£¬ÛÃÑ.
However the significance is that it is the result of a "natural fusion" of cultures.
(In a trilogy, the first one is always the best, the second one okay, the third one usually sucks.)
(Jay Leno's joke: "Do they live in the Underworld? Why do they always wear sun glasses?" Of course, Jay does not know, we know better. This is because the Undereorld heros and heroines have sensitive eyes.)
