Anna and the King of Siam

"The King and I" started as a novel "Anna and the King of Siam
It was made into a Broadway show in 1951, with Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II as the lyrics writer and song composer. Hammerstein's songs often betray Eastern influence, incuding songs from "The South Pacific", "The King and I" and so on.
Again, the Siamian King was played by a White Man.
Usually the White Man is the conquerer, the Native Girl the conquered.
In "The King and I" there is another role reversal: the White Woman as the Educator, the one with the Power.
Man (strong) vs. Woman (weak)
Eastern Power (weak) vs. Weatern Power (strong)
King's political power vs. the Power of Woman (knowledge, wisdom, compassion).
