MinSpeak and mobile phones
MinSpeak with the proper use of icons and speech synthesizer can be adequately used in mobile phones.
Thought no contract has yet been signed but NOKIA will soon be the first to provide iconic laguages in its mobile phones.
A new device based On MinSpeak has been designed by Bruce Baker for mobile phones.
The limiting factor in using MinSpeak for mobile phones is its small size. So this set has just 18 icons and ten digits
to produce a range of vocabulary. Whenever you press an icon voice is generated.
It has following 18 icons:
Left
File
Magnify
Flags
YinYang
Sundial
Globe
Eye
Right
Up
Draftsman
7 coins
Cards
Keypad
Dial
Skull
Stop
Down
Now every icon has its specific meaning according to the grammar.
Eg. Left hand for "LAST", Right for "NEXT", Sundial for "TIME" etc.
The sequence of icons generate words like in,
For eg. EYE and STOP denotes "SIGN OFF", EYE and FLAGS denote "GREETINGS".
Again combination of further icons helps to form phrases or sentences like in,
EYE and STOP and RIGHT HAND denote "BE RIGHT BACK",
EYE and FLAGS and UP denotes "WHATS UP".
Thus by knowing the meanings of the icons and by learning the grammar a wide range of vocabulary
can be generated which will aid in easy communication by mobile phones mainly for those who have impaired speech
or language diversities.
