VQSs can be compared along three taxonomy criteria:

the expressive power
the interaction strategies

Basic types of Visual representations:
form-based, diagrammatic, iconic, VR, and hybrid

Multiparadigmatic interface:
The above representations present complementary advantages and disadvantages. We can supply multiple representations, in order to provide different interaction paradigms, each one with different characteristics. Each user, either novice or expert, can choose the most appropriate paradigm to interact with the system.
