(1) The cost of WAP

Using WAP services will only cost you the per minute rates that your cellular service provider charges you. So: if you spend 5 minutes reading and writing email and you are reading the latest news for another 3 minutes, your cellular service provider will charge you for 8 minutes, just like they would if you would call a friend for 8 minutes.

(2)The future of WAP

WAP as World Online offers it now, is just the beginning. It is available via the GSM networks. These networks are quite slow; this means that only a small amount of information (9,6 Kb) per second can be transmitted to your phone. A few lines of text would take a few seconds; a picture or an audio-recording would take hours.

In the near future new technologies will be added to GSM.
These technologies, like GPRS or UMTS, will allow for a much faster connection. In a few years time a picture or an audio-recording will only require a fraction of a second to be transmitted to your phone.
For now, though, enjoy the wide variety of services and the interactivity that World Online offers you, with WorldWAP.
