Hierarchical Petri Nets
- Specifications for real systems have a tendency to become large and complex
- An abstraction mechanism, hierarchical structuring, is used to make constructing,
reviewing, and modifying the model easier
- The hierarchy construct is called a subnet
- A subnet is an aggregate of a number of places, transitions, and subsystems
- Such a construct can be used to structure large processes
- Each subnet is represented with a rectangular box that encapsulates part of the
Petri Net model
