Rail Traffic Notifier System Application
The Application...
- The rail traffic notifier system
is used to inform the user of the status of grade level railroad crossings.
This information may include a graphical map of the crossings in question,
or textual information about any delays that the user may incur if they attempt
to use a particular crossing.
The following are indications
used in the graphical view of the system with their definitions:
This indicates a track section that has no train occupying
it.
This indicates a track section that will soon be occupied by a train.
This
indicates that a train is currently occupying the track section.
Grade level crossings are
clearly visible on the application map, where the grey roads cross a track sections.
These track sections are identified with a crossing id.
This system is currently
running under a simulator for demostration purposes.
In simulator mode:
- 1 true second is equal
to one minute in the system
- Trains are set to run
on 1 real minute cycles
It takes 52 real seconds for the train to traverse the track sections visible
on the screen
- There is an 8 second
period once a train has left the last track section before the next train
will begin to traverse the track
- The system is set to
automatically refresh every 4 seconds.
- Addtionally, the following
browsers are used to demostrate the adaptive properties of the system:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
= Full desktop view
- Netscape = In vehicle view
- Mobile Phone = Handheld view
(Any mobile phone browser identifying itself as a "MobilePhone"
and can process HTML 4 code will work)
