Video Open Plan

The interface used is based on the extension to the standard Web server and users the GPDD described earlier. Two video interfaces are being used successfully, running two cameras connected to two different unix workstations.

The system consists of:

    A) Sony camera with computer controlled zoom and focus using RS232 interface

    B) Directed Perception's (DP) computer controlled pan and tilt unit (PTU). The PTU holds the Sony
camera and is also controlled by means of an RS232 interface.

    C) Canon camera, with embedded computer controlled pan, tilt, zoom, and focus.

In the experiments made, the computer running the GPDD also contains the device drivers for the Sony camera and DP's PTU.

The hardware device drivers for the second camera (Canon) reside on a separate computer. Everytime a command for the Canon camera is received by the GPDD, an Internet socket is created and a message sent to the process controlling the camera.
