PHP succeeded PHP/FI
PHP/FI was created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1995
PHP 3.0 1st version of PHP that resembles PHP today. Completely rewritten by Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski in 1997 because they found that PHP/FI was not powerful enough for their eCommerce applications.
20% of web sites have PHP installed today.
