In order to for variorum to decrease maintance time it is nessacary
to decrease the time it takes for the maintainer to understand how the
project is designed.
- Maintainers need to understand the program at the code and the algorithmic
level
- To facilitate quick understanding it is nesscary to switch between
many levels of abstraction
Variorum adds the strengths of existing authoring tools and overcomes
some of their deficiencies
- Use of HTML was previlant in existing tools and methodologies
- Evident in first two examples
- All previous attempts lacked walkthrough by the author
