SOFTWARE ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE SOA AND WEB SERVICES
Outline
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web Services are defining the
new component-based architecture environments. In this course
component, the business and technical web services architecture will be
described. Current web services technologies like SOAP, WSDL and the
WS-* standards will be described. Finally, the Apache Axis framework
will be used to show how an open source framework can be used for web
services and SOA-enablement.
About the Lecturer
Steve Mahoney has over 15 years experience with IT solutions, business
process and technology solutions. As CTO of CEI, Steve leads strategic
technology briefings and workshops for executives that define business
and technology alignment. In addition, he is responsible for IT strategy
and solution architectures for clients, such as Bunge Ltd., Lord
Corporation, Alcatel, Nextel Communications, Inc. and CMP Media, Ltd.

Apache provides a lot of open source value but is lighter to use as
compared to the commercial application server environments. The JAVA
toolkit will be the focus.
