An OPEN process for CBD

Expanding OPEN's "Toolbox":

• QESTA - technique for evaluating components. (Quantification, Examination, Specification, Transformation, Aggregation)
• Checklist - a set of criteria for assessing the attributes of components and their interfaces.

Functional Specifications Includes all "must have" features? Satisfies relevant technical standards? Does vendor documentation on interfaces match requirements?

Operational/Performance Attributes Does component meet known minimal performance requirements? Are there any violations of required operational constraints in vendor documentation?

Deployment Factors Availability of implementation on target platforms Support of multiple platforms and operating systems Platform and OS independent

Vendor Selection Criteria Alignment of vendor organization with component user's business goals Market share (as indicator of market acceptance of product)? Existing customer base Experiences with vendor interactions Vendor commitment to component (product) with respect to projected R&D investment and level of marketing support
