- The current
course capacity is 25. Computer science students have first
priority. There is a pretty good chance that computer
science students will fill all 25 seats. Knowing exactly how
many seats they will fill is tricky. Besides grad students
in general no big rush to register, there are 10ish new
computer science graduate students, many of which will
presumably need/want to register, arriving in the Spring
semester who can't register until they get an ID, which they
can't get until they are on campus. So I have to hold a lot
of seats open until the very end. If there are seats open
after all computer science students have had a chance to
register, they will be open to other students. At some point
I will post here if/when I know that there will be open
seats. Which will probably be sometime between January 6 to
10.

- First
priority after computer science students will be Ph.D.
students in other programs that either have sufficient
proof-based algorithmic background or extensive proof-based
mathematical background. I may end up asking for evidence of
algorithmic background, which would normally consist of the
course number and name, the name and contact info the the
instructor, the university where the course was taken, a
copy of a transcript showing the grade, a zip file
containing homework assignments and exams from the course.

- It is highly
unlikely that will be seats left for master students in
other programs. Also the normal algorithms course for
masters students is CS 1510/2012, which is the prerequisite
for CS 2150. So CS 2150 is not at an appropriate level for
most masters students.

- There is likely going to be a Friday recitation added that will meet from 1 to 2:15. There is also a decent chance that the classroom will change. Not exactly sure how this affect the capacity.
- Depending on
how things shake out, there may not be class the first week.
