New website and a wish to start micro-blogging

After neglecting to update my personal webpage for a while, I finally decided to take the time to work on it. My goal was to get rid of my previous page, which was structured using a “borrowed” style from a colleague’s personal webpage (before you say anything, I had a reference on my website to give credit to that colleague), and have a new one, which would be concise, minimalistic, and convey my personal information to a visitor.

The previous criteria were captured on a template that I modified to match my needs. That template works on Jekyll, which is a building tool to generate static websites.

Also, since my third year of my PhD, I wanted to have a micro blog where I could share my views on different research topics. The urge, for doing so, emanated mostly from the fact that as a student we read/review many papers, which in a short period of time we forget what they talked about. In addition, I feel like a part of PhD’s interests/work is reflected on their readings, and since this is a personal website, I believe that other researchers would be interested to get an idea of what I read and what I get from it.

I hope that I will develop of habit of micro-blogging…
